Daphne is looking for her lost puppy and comes across a neighbor who tells her that he’s found it. She excitedly enters his apartment to retrieve the dog, but instead she is chloroformed and knocked unconscious.

When she wakes up, she is tied to a chair placed in front of a metronome. She soon becomes entranced by the rhythmic ticking of it while her captor guides her into a hypnotic trance. Her mind is reprogrammed to forget about her lost puppy and focus only on obeying her master’s commands.
