Alex calls the front desk at her hotel to tell them that her light is broke (as she doesn’t want to be charged any outrageous incidentals). But Alex doesn’t know that someone at the front desk took special notice of her as she was checking in that night. While Alex is explaining her complaint to him, he calmly pulls a watch from his pocket and begins to swing it before her eyes, dropping her into a trance. Now that Alex appears to be at his command, he gives her a few instructions to test her obedience before deciding to stay for the night.
